Instructions

Prerequisites for application:

  • There must be no active water ingress during application and/or curing. Any penetrating water must be stopped before application.
  • It is recommended that application take place during periods of low groundwater levels whenever possible.
  • WP7-501 must be applied to a dry or slightly damp wall. There should be no visible droplets on the surface.
  • The room must be well ventilated to allow the product to fully cure. The relative humidity must be between 50% and 80% during the drying process. Bringing the product to room temperature will accelerate curing.
  • Freshly poured concrete must cure for at least 28 days before it can be treated with WP7-501.

Consumption:

  • WP7-501 must ALWAYS be applied in 2 coats, each approximately 1 mm thick.
  • 1 kg powder = 1.2 m² wall surface per coat
  • 1 package = 10 kg powder = 5-6 m² wall surface (2 coats), depending on the evenness of the surface.

Preparation:

  • Remove as much old paint and plaster as possible, ensuring that WP7-501 can be applied to achieve maximum coverage of the original porous substrate (brick, concrete, etc.).
  • Remove dust and loose particles.

Primer:

  • Dilute the primer 1:1 with clean water (1 litre of water per 1 litre of concentrate). Apply the mixture to the substrate using the supplied spray nozzle. Saturate the porous areas of the substrate to maximise salt resistance and adhesion.
  • The next coat must be applied wet-on-wet. If the primer dries out, moisten it with clean water.

Mixing the coating:

  • Measure the required amount of polymer cement for the first coat.
  • Mixing ratio: 400 ml of clean water per kg or 4 litres per 10 kg bag.
  • Mix with a slow-rotating mixer (500 revolutions per minute) until a thick, lump-free consistency is obtained. Allow to stand for 2 minutes and stir again. Begin application immediately.
  • The mixture has a working time of 35 to 45 minutes, depending on the ambient temperature. If the mixture sets in the container, never add water.

Application:

  • Apply the first coat with a wide, stiff brush onto the primer while it is still wet. The coat thickness must be approximately 1 mm.
  • Leave the first coat to dry. The coat must be hard to the touch before the second coat can be applied. This takes 3-6 hours, depending on the temperature and humidity. Good ventilation and heating where necessary will accelerate curing.
  • Moisten the first coat with water. Apply the second coat at right angles to the brush direction of the first coat.

Final steps:

  • Clean tools and any spilt product immediately with clean water. Once cured, the coating can only be removed mechanically.
  • Full curing takes 14 days, depending on temperature and humidity. Ensure adequate ventilation to keep humidity below 80%. Use a construction dryer or dehumidifier and ensure that the relative humidity does not drop below 50%. Bringing the product to room temperature will accelerate curing.
  • After curing, WP7-501 can either be left unfinished or finished by painting, plastering or tiling.
